Joan McNichols Joan McNichols is an internationally-recognized expert on multisensory mathematic instruction who has spent 24 years in the classroom and the last 23 years as an educational therapist. She has provided teacher training in schools and colleges both in the United States and abroad, is a frequent contributor to educational journals on math instruction, and has published seven books on mathematical instruction. Her most recent books are a set of four Lesson Plans subtitled: The Four Basic Operations; Fractions, Decimals & Percdents; Pre-Alebra & Basic Algebra; Foundations of Geometry, Measurement, & Logic. Mrs. McNichols has served on the Board of Landmark College for over 18 years. In addition, she is the Director of Dyslexia Outreach Services of The Dyslexia Foundation. She is the Founder and Director of the McNichols' Learning Center in Newport Beach, CA. Mrs. McNichols is dedicated to introducing teachers to a new understanding of mathematics education that emphasizes alternative approaches best suited to the learning style of the student. Joan holds B.S. in Spanish from the University of Kansas and an M.S. in Mathematics from the University of California. |
